HSE is committed to providing legal services and access to the justice system for individuals who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer. Our pro bono practice not only improves the lives of those we serve, it also provides our attorneys personal satisfaction and opportunities for professional development.
For many years, HSE has supported initiatives to increase the availability of pro bono legal services in Monroe, Erie and surrounding counties in New York State. Many of our attorneys participate in the Volunteer Legal Services Project (Monroe County) and the Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc. (Erie County), adjuncts of the Monroe and Erie County Bar Associations. In addition, they accept pro bono assignments from the federal courts. For a number of years, we have committed to handle one pro bono representation per year, per attorney in the Rochester office. We are honored that the courts and local bar associations have recognized a number of our attorneys for their extraordinary commitment to pro bono work.
