INFORMATION ON CURRENT LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY
The Group’s attorneys and legislative representatives meet with clients to discuss the agenda for the state’s current legislative session and to plan strategies for both general legislation and individual bills. Our attorneys are skilled in the development of proposed legislation or the review of draft language for technical accuracy.

INTRODUCTION AND TRACKING OF BILLS
When clients suggest or initiate legislation, the Group’s attorneys consider sponsorship strategies, advocate for the introduction of the bill in the New York State Senate and Assembly, and track the bill’s progress through the legislature. We notify all appropriate legislators and client officials of key dates for possible committee and floor action to keep attention focused on the bill, and we inform our clients of the progress of all legislation in which they have an interest.

DIRECT CONTACT WITH LEGISLATORS
Working closely with client representatives, the Group’s attorneys coordinate and assist efforts to contact individual legislators, legislative staff members, members of the Governor’s staff, or appropriate agency representatives.

ADVOCACY
We have established a reputation for effective and successful advocacy through ongoing dialogue with state officials who have authority closely associated with our clients’ interests.

IMMEDIATE AND APPROPRIATE ACTION
The Group’s professional staff monitors state legislation and proposed regulations which could impact clients. Our attorneys assist in communicating clients’ positions on proposed legislation to members of the State Legislature or appropriate agency officials.

REGULAR UPDATES
We prepare written reports detailing activities on specific bills, as well as other issues pertinent to client needs. When decisions are reached, we report to clients on the final status of legislative issues and prepare recommendations for future strategies.

VISIBILITY IN ALBANY
The Group’s attorneys and legislative representatives create visibility for clients in the State capital by maintaining contact with state legislators, the Governor’s office, and all appropriate state agencies. In addition, we provide or coordinate services in New York and other states, and work with clients on specific legislative and administrative matters involving federal and local governments.
