New World of Workplace Wages

HSE attorney Ben Mudrick appeared on the Greater Rochester Enterprise’s October 3rd ‘Eyes on the Future’ radio show, along with Laurie Enright, Placement Director at AP Professionals.

The program covered New York State’s incremental minimum wage increase for fast food workers, the possibility of its spread to other industries, and how businesses might react to the increase. The discussion also touched upon the differences between exempt and non-exempt employees, changes to exemptions - particularly for “white collar” employees, and the importance of correctly identifying these classifications. Employers are encouraged to update employee handbooks to reflect these developments and ensure they are compliant.
