Guest Speaker in CSEC 751.01: Information Security Policy and Law

Michael J. DaughertyPlease join us for an engaging and insightful conversation with Michael Daugherty, CEO of LabMD on Wednesday, Septermber 12, 2018 from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm in GOL 3435.

LabMD was the “David” cancer testing company from suburban Atlanta that did the unthinkable, twice.  It not only took on the “Goliath” federal cybersecurity regulator, the FTC, it also eventually won, in a recent decision by the 11th Circuit that severely limited the FTC’s previously unchallenged powers to seek wide-reaching and long-lasting enforcement orders.  LabMD CEO Michael Daugherty will be joining us virtually to discuss his ordeal and years of experience combating the FTC.

Michael is a graduate of The University of Michigan and a surgical healthcare entrepreneur for over twenty years marketing implantable medical devices. In 1996 he founded LabMD. He has spent most of the last decade defending his company against charges that it had deficient cybersecurity practices.
