Harter Secrest & Emery attorney Laura Moore Smith served as pro bono counsel to the Finger Lakes Land Trust to gain permanent protection of 50 acres of prime farmland in the Canandaigua Lake watershed through a perpetual conservation easement. HSE collaborated with the Land Trust and the Town of Gorham to conserve the property which will remain in agricultural use. The town provided over $85,000 in funding for the project, and the Land Trust agreed to hold the easement and monitor future compliance with the agreement.

This successful collaboration helps reinforce the mission of the Land Trust to conserve forever the lands and waters of the Finger Lakes region, ensuring scenic vistas, clean water, local foods, and wild places for everyone.
